TREATMENT ADVICE

This page is here to provide you with everything you need to know ahead of your appointment, including advice from our therapists on how to get the best waxing experience.

Before your waxing appointment

A few tips to benefit your waxing experience

  • Make sure your hair is long enough to be removed from the root. We recommend 1/2 cm of hair growth for the best results so leave for a few weeks after shaving.
  • If you have been shaving it may take a few wax treatments to get your hair into a growth cycle to receive the best wax finish.
  • Exfoliate and moisturise regularly between appointments to minimise risk of ingrown hairs.
  • Try to wear loose, breathable, cotton clothing for your appointment to ensure your skin has time to recover after your treatment.

IMMEDIATELY AFTER WAXING

  • Some tenderness, small bumps and redness is very common. These are perfectly normal temporary reactions for around 24 – 48 hrs after waxing, especially if it is your first time having the treatment done.
  • Apply after wax lotion as advised by your therapist if needed to soothe the area.

It is very important to keep the area clean and avoid heat/friction directly after any waxing treatments so for the next 12 – 24 hours:

  • Avoid applying deodorant, perfume or any other product to the area other than those recommended by your therapist.
  • No HOT baths or showers, use warm water only!
  • Try to avoid any exercise, swimming, sauna or steam rooms.
  • No tanning: that means sunbathing, sun beds or fake tan too.
  • Try to avoid touching the area excessively to keep it clean and reduce chance of any irritation.

FUTURE APPOINTMENTS

  • We would recommend waxing every four to six weeks, between your waxing appointments follow these tips to prepare for your next treatment.
  • Using a brush, or exfoliation gloves, buff the area 4-7 days after treatment to prevent ingrown hairs and continue to do so every few days between waxing appointments.
  • Keep the area well moisturised to help reduce the chance of ingrown hairs and to benefit the results of your next waxing treatment.
  • NO shaving! Waxing at regular intervals will increase your hair-free time between appointments, can reduce the thickness of the hair growth and will make your waxes much quicker and pain-free!

I always love coming to the wax bar for my bikini wax! My waxer this time was soooo efficient – the not-super-pleasant experience of such an intimate wax was over in a flash! Thanks!
